Concept & Dates

Richard will attempt to run seven standard marathons on seven continents in less than seven days. If successful, he would become the first person to do so.

He hopes to complete his challenge in six calendar days and will begin his quest within the Antarctic Circle on mainland Antarctica, 4,200km south of Cape Town. All events will be recorded on GPS. They will also be monitored and witnessed to verify that the 42.2km (26.2 miles) distance is covered in each location.

Richard is scheduled to start at approximately 02:00 Sydney time on Saturday 31st January 2009 and scheduled to finish on Thursday 5th February at approximately 14:00 in Sydney. If Richard is delayed in Antarctica, his schedule will be pushed outward. Check the updates section for progress reports.

Wide temperature fluctuations are anticipated through the series of marathons.
